The cost of adoption seems to be one of the biggest concerns of hopeful adoptive parents. One of the reasons for this is because adoption costs vary so much depending on the type of adoption taking place, it is often hard to plan finances for adoption. Our panelists discuss the variety of adoptions and the associated costs. Jumping in on the conversation, we learn from our social worker that there are fees to be applied for each individual who helps with the adoption. That includes doctors, attorneys, social workers, etc. When choosing to adopt through an agency, all the costs are rolled into one. With a private adoption, the finances are more ambiguous until the process as gone far enough to know who all will be involved in making the adoption happen. In every case, it is essential to do your homework and make sure that every detail is taken care of.
