Colorado’s CBS station recently shared facts about foster children in the state over their news broadcast. In Colorado, about 500 youth age out of the foster care system each year. Among those youth, 40% will become homeless, 60% will end up in jail, about 17% of females aging out of the system will become pregnant, and a full 50% of youth in Colorado who age out of the foster care system will suffer from substance abuse.
Individuals and organizations, as well as loving families are working to lower those statistics. This news video highlights one youth in the foster care system and her foster family.
