With over 3,000 children in foster care in the UK who are ready for adoption, the country has pledged to make adoptions easier and faster. Currently, it takes an average of 18 months for an adoptable child entering foster care to be placed into an adoptive family. And so England’s government has pledged 30 million pounds to speed up the process by covering the costs of matching parents and children – especially for those who need to be moved out of their local areas.

David Cameron, the Prime Minster stated, “I am determined to tear down the barriers to children in care being found loving adoptive parents. The average time it takes to place a child with a new family has been falling and I am delighted we are able to offer this funding to try to ensure it falls further.”
