The Dallas Morning News reported recently on a tender adoption story. Muriel Clayton, 92, thought it was about time to make the adoption of her 76 year old daughter, Mary, official. In a Dallas courtroom, the two beautiful women stood together as Judge Kim Cooks stated, “The court grants the adoption and pronounces Muriel Banks Clayton and Mary Banks Smith as mother and daughter.”

Having raised Mary as her own, Muriel needed this “one more piece” to her jigsaw puzzle of life. In lieu of the traditional teddy bear that is usually given to adoptees, this Dallas judge presented both Muriel and Mary with white orchids.
