With the goal of uniting families, this year’s National Foster Care Month brings notice to a birth mother, Nancy. Nancy’s children were removed from her home and placed with a foster paren—Annette. Instead of being the adversary, Annette was a friend and a helper to Nancy. It was Annette’s goal to loving care for Nancy’s children while Nancy recovered and became able to bring her children home. Annette communicated regularly with Nancy, helping her to feel worthwhile and encouraged, rather than “less-than” or disheartened. Nancy hopes that other parents who find themselves in her situation, losing the children they love, will have their kids placed in foster homes like Annette’s. For Nancy and for Nancy’s children, Annette made all the difference!
