“Never judge,” says Annette, a foster mom. “Our job is to reunify and build strong families.” Annette and her family welcome in foster children whose parents are working hard to correct past mistakes and be reunified. As a foster mother, Annette works hand-in-hand with the biological mother to help the kids transition back and forth seamlessly. This includes keeping the family’s regular rules and chores, inviting the biological mother into the foster home for natural visits with her children, and regular communication with the biological mother. Annette hopes that more foster parents will realize that working together with the birth family to provide stability and working towards reunification will bring the ultimate comfort and good to their foster children.
