If you’re not a sports enthusiast you may not know the name Simone Biles. But sports enthusiast or not, one can’t help but be in awe as this 4’9” 19-year-old dazzles the world with her bright smile and incredible gymnastics talent. Take a look at her performance recently as she took 1st place (for the 4th time!) at the P&G Gymnastics Championships.
Simone’s personal life has been one of inspiration. Entering foster care at a young age, Simone and her siblings were adopted by their maternal grandparents. Ron and Nellie Biles are modest when speaking of their role in helping their children excel. But Simone attributes her success to the wonderful parents who have supported her throughout her life. “My parents make sure we have everything we need so that we compete to the best of our ability,” she told People Magazine. Simone and her sister, Adria, learned to love gymnastics when their parents enrolled them both in a gymnastics class. Simone was just six years old at the time. Fiercely dedicated, Simone never missed a practice. Even if she was ill, Simone insisted on attending. It’s this tenacity and love for the sport that has helped create a master gymnast. Clearly, Simone loves what she does.
