Once a birth mother makes the choice to place her child for adoption, the work begins. Finding her child’s family is a task that can be frustrating, but enriching. This is one of the most important choices a birth mother will ever make. Some birth mothers have very specific criteria, some are just searching for the right feeling. When approached in a way to find the person or family best for her child, a birth mother will be given a sense of peace when she finds the family her child is meant to be with. One birth mother realized, “I’m not choosing his family, I’m finding the family he already has.” She felt immediately at peace knowing that the son she was giving birth to would be with his true family.
