4-year-old Ajis became orphaned when his mother died while trying to get through mosquito infested jungles in order to reach the Thai-Malay border. Wandering alone, Ajis was sold and smuggled across the border into Malaysia.
His adoptive parents love him and are working hard to follow laws to have Ajis registered so he can receive proper medical care, be considered a refugee, and be safe. But there is concern for Ajis, as there is for many children near the border. So often they are taken, only to be sold to the highest bidder. Yet Ajis’ adoptive parents say they would never sell him for any amount of money. They will continue to care for him and love him as their own.
