Parenting without ego is a difficult process. As parents, many of us believe (whether consciously or subconsciously) that our children are essentially a reflection of us. It’s important to remember that children are individuals. Remembering that each child comes with his or her own background and personality is helpful in pulling us out of ourselves and to focus completely on the needs of our children. Recognizing that there will always be obstacles and difficulties will help contribute to us being patient and flexible. It’s important to make growing up a healthy situation for our children. This is accomplished as we allow our children to be who they are and to expand their specific talents and interests.
