Planning For Placement Day: What You Need to Know (Panel Discussion)

An Original Video | Unplanned Pregnancy Panel

Denalee Chapman December 30, 2015

Planning for placement day can make a huge difference in the feelings a birth mother experiences. The birth mother gets to choose who is in attendance at birth and at placement. She chooses the date and the time.Just the fact of being able to control some of the things happening will be helpful for the birth mother to navigate through the emotional hardship of placement.

In fact, placement can be a sweet moment, even a sacred time, for the birth mother and for the adoptive parents. Time alone with the baby can be planned, time with the adoptive parents, grandparents, and more can be chosen by the birth mother.

Planning for placement day can also include discussion with doctors and nurses about labor and delivery. Knowing what to expect physically will help with the emotional event that is taking place.
