We like to keep life fun and laugh a lot, especially in the hard moments.
Richard and Elizabeth
Richard is funny! People love to be around him because he makes everyone laugh. Our boys laugh with him often throughout the day. Life is fun with him! He is a hard worker. He takes his job very seriously and loves helping other people. He loves being active. He has completed multiple IRONMANs and loves to be healthy. He also loves to relax and eat plenty of donuts! One of his favorite things is turning on a show after the kids go to bed with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is the glue of our family. She is a great example and model for our kids. Doing the right thing is so important to her. She has a great way of showing individuals that she loves and cares for them. She loves her job! She is a photographer/videographer and loves capturing the important moments in life. She savors the beautiful moments and also captures them so she can relive them later. She loves to spend time with Richard. He keeps her laughing!

Our Family

With three boys, life is always a little crazy. We are always cleaning up after the latest "floor is lava" game, Nerf gun fight, tickle fight, etc. We just got done cleaning out the sink filled with toys, soap, paper, toothpaste and wads of wet toilet paper. Amidst the chaos, we often look at each other and laugh. We are so blessed to have these boys. We've talked with them about adding a new baby and they can't wait. They keep asking when our new baby will come. Surprisingly they mentioned they wouldn't mind a little sister. Probably just a change of pace from what they are used to (what we are all used to). We always remind them that it's up to our Father in Heaven. We are grateful for our relationship with Him and know He has a plan for our family.

I have been Elizabeth and Richard’s neighbor for two years. The first person who came and knocked on our door when we moved in was Elizabeth. In our short doorstep introductory conversation, she arranged to bring me a meal, watch my kids while I unpacked, and go on a group date with me and my spouse. It was impossible to not feel a great sense of love from a stranger I just barely met. In the two years since that day, it has become very clear that it was just Elizabeth being Elizabeth. She naturally exudes genuine love and care for others. Richard is one of the most fun people to be around. He is incredibly funny, but never in a crass or unkind way. Just hearing him laugh makes me laugh, even when I miss the punchline. Richard is the kind of Dad that will scoot and “excuse me” his way through an hour-long Disneyland line to take his kid to the bathroom where a lot of parents would tell their kids to just hold it. (A real thing I’ve seen him do.) I could write for hours about how amazing the Curtises are. How fun they are to be with. How Elizabeth never misses a friend’s birthday or the stories Richard shares that makes a room of people erupt in laughter. About the Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins that will be there every step of the way to cheer on your child as they grow. I know this is an impossible decision. One that you simply can’t afford to get wrong. As a mother myself I would never recommend a family for adoption that I am not absolutely sure about without any reservations. I have no doubts that the Curtises will make sure there is never a moment where your child won’t feel entirely safe and endlessly loved.

Richard and Elizabeth are two of the kindest people I know. They have a way of making you feel welcome in their lives no matter how you choose to show up. Elizabeth has an ability to make everyone feel special and needed. She is compassionate and a willing listener. Richard brings out the best in people. Everything and everyone is better when Richard is around. They are incredible parents who are fair, loving, and have created a home where their children can thrive and grow both physically and emotionally. The best compliment I could pay them is that if anything ever happened to my husband and I, I would want our kids to be raised by them. I holistically support and hope the best for them on this adoption journey.

Many say that it takes a village to raise a child. Richard and Elizabeth have a huge support system that live on the same block. There are cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents that would love this child. Richard and Elizabeth are fabulous parents! Elizabeth and Richard. I have know these amazing people for over 10 years. These people are some of the most genuine, kind people I will ever know. They are honest, openminded, and continually working on how to become better versions of themselves. When you are around Elizabeth, you feel valued, important, and special. When you are around Richard, well, good luck trying to keep a straight face. you won't be able to. He is the pro at bringing light into a room and finding the humor or the bright side in almost any situation. Elizabeth is just as playful as Richard and they have such a great balance together. They are great examples to me in so many ways. They have worked so hard to provide a home that is safe, where kids can feel comfortable making mistakes, learn from them and laugh about them later. In their home there is room to feel all the feelings, explore all the possibilities, and nurture so many opportunities for growth and development. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I can’t say enough good things about Richard and Elizabeth Curtis. My husband and I have been good friends with them for about three years but it feels like we’ve been friends with them forever. They are such good, kind, loving, sweet, devoted and delightful people. They make everyone around them feel loved and important. Especially children. I love watching how Elizabeth’s face lights up whenever she sees a kid that she knows. She makes them feel like the most important person in the world.
