Meet Joe, who grew up in foster care, never knew his birth parents, and eventually aged out of the system. Joe wants for his adopted sons what he never had: a family. Joe founded You Gotta Believe, a non-profit organization committed to finding forever families for older children. At You Gotta Believe, their mantra is “It’s never too late for family.”
We learn from the You Gotta Believe website that “as many as 50% of youth aging out of foster care will become homeless; many will be incarcerated or hospitalized and experience health and mental health challenges throughout their lives, and only a tiny percent will have a college degree by age 26. These outcomes are completely unacceptable and are the reason that YGB was founded.”
