Foster mother, Christy, shares with us a series of tips for making visits with birth families a little easier and better, than if the tips are not followed. Some of the tips, Christy picked up from conversations with social workers, other tips she learned from her own experience.

By following these tips, children are more protected from disappointment, life is less chaotic, and visits can be fulfilling and joyful. With proper preparation, a foster parent can feel more in control and can better handle the emotional impact visits have on the children they care for. Ideas include suggestions for activity boxes and snacks as well as emotional preparation.
