Steve and Shelley adopted Jamie when she was 8 years old. As good as Jamie was and is, there were still unique challenges with bringing an older child into their home. Jamie’s single mother died when Jamie was just 8 years old. But eight years is a long time when it comes to developing habit and character traits. Jamie was always a good girl, but some of her habits were not-so-good. With a mother who made some very bad choices, Jamie knew no better. And so, when Jamie came to live with Steve and Shelley, there were some hard habits that needed changing.
In this video interview, Shelley and Jamie together share what some of those challenges were and how they conquered them. They also talk about the remarkable resemblance they have to each other even though there is no blood relation.
