Changed forever because of 10 years in foster care, Jennifer Bush is focusing her life on helping foster children. Now a social worker, she is married to her high school sweetheart and hopes to one day be a foster parent herself. Jennifer’s mother was arrested and spent 5 years behind bars for allegedly making her daughter sick intentionally. After nearly 200 hospitalizations and about 40 operations for then 8-year-old Jennifer, Kathy Bush was arrested. It was thought that she had Munchausen Syndrome–a mental illness.
Jennifer tells the public that her mom was never to blame for her illnesses. She was not abused, and her placement into foster care created traumatic times for her. But relationships with her family are still strong. Jennifer is dedicated to helping other children and encouraging them to be proactive in speaking up for themselves.
