Those who watched TV sitcoms in the 1980s might remember actress Kimberly Russell who played the part of Sarah Nevins in the show Head of the Class. Kim went on to create a successful marriage with filmmaker and artist Michael Bonewitz. The two of them have three biological children, then doubled their family in 2013 when they adopted a sibling group of five.
Following Mother’s Day this year, Kim, Michael, and their eight children talked to CBS News. Kim first met her five adopted children when their mother, Marie, was in the hospital, dying of lung cancer. As best friends, Kim promised Marie that she would look after her children, a promise she knew she would keep.
Now the family of ten is thriving as they look out for each other and have many memorable moments together.
