A burglary is invasive when it happens to you. It’s even worse when what is stolen has no monetary value, but is filled with sentiment. A couple returned home from a short vacation to find their home had been broken into and the family safe stolen. In the safe were the only papers legally documenting their two daughters’ adoptions from China. Besides being essential for the girls to travel and get other legal documents, the stolen papers are the only links the girls have to their heritage. The family is asking for Des Moines residents to keep an eye open for the safe and papers that may have been discarded. They are hoping for the return of the documents and for peace of mind.
