Ashton is an incredibly sweet 5-year-old boy from Oklahoma City. He is always up for an adventure. He loves trains and motorcycles. He just wants to play and is not too particular about what it is he plays with. Ashton is satisfied with toys, video games, and imaginative play. This happy, upbeat kid loves to eat Spaghetti-O’s, and he wants to be a police officer when he grows up. “They send the bad guys to jail. That’s what a policeman does,” he says.
Ashton was taken into state custody and placed in the foster care system when he was just two years old. Manny Dawson, a child welfare specialist for DHS, is trying to find a permanent placement for him now, while he’s young and still has a shot at having a traditional life. Ashton is still too young fully understand his situation, but he’s old enough to know he wants a family.
