With the paperwork, home visits, and more required, it was a long process. It took one year for them to adopt their daughter, and a year-and-a-half for their son. But of course, it has been completely worth it. They are a family, and although where they come from doesn’t mean they don’t belong, they still recognize their culture as part of who they are. And so their home — a symbol of international adoption — is filled with artwork from their children’s countries. Plans to revisit their birth places are being made.
