A Shanghai newspaper is getting the word out to the world that a Caucasian man in his 50s needs to be found. 8-year-old Phoebe is one of 11 children being raised by the man known only as “Ray.” She was admitted to a hospital with internal injuries and in critical condition two weeks ago. This is Phoebe’s third visit to the hospital with injuries sufficient to require her to stay for treatment.
Ray has been in China taking in orphans for 10 years. He has lived in China for 30 years, and although he speaks fluent Chinese, he does not maintain a regular job. Instead, he posts photos of the children he takes in on RaysChildren.org.
Phoebe’s injuries are severe and include duodenal obstruction and kidney damage–something the doctors say are caused by external blunt force. Phoebe corroborates this with her statements that Ray beats her. The other 10 children in Ray’s care were dropped off at the hospital the same time Phoebe was admitted.
