And although 20% of confirmed pregnancies end in miscarriage, the number is much higher if one calculates loss that occurs before a positive pregnancy test. When those numbers are included, the estimate is 40% of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Most miscarriages are single miscarriages. The good news is that most of the women who have had one miscarriage will have a normal pregnancy the next time.
