These two birth mothers and their parents offer their advice for women who find themselves in a situation with an unplanned pregnancy. Being able to take some of the emotions out of the equation and look at the future picture realistically, the decision you make will be a more sound decision. For example, there are financial costs associated with parenting a child. There are also emotional responsibilities—if you choose to parent, will you be able to give your child the emotional stability he/she needs? Starlee’s father’s advice to a woman who finds herself pregnant is: “Have the baby. Take responsibility for what you’ve helped create and give the child life.” He suggests that considering parenting vs. adoption is a personal decision.
