How do birth mothers feel on placement day? It’s an experience that one can’t truly prepare for, an experience that cannot be understood without living it. For these birth mothers, as the pendulum swings, that day and those moments were the most painful and the most beautiful of their lives. In this video, our panel of birth mothers share their days of relinquishment. As is to be expected, it was hard. And the moments these women had with their children before the moment of placing were among the most precious they’ve had. They experienced feelings of gratitude, joy, peace, and even some reverence for their children; the opportunity to bring them into the world; and the gift of life and love. It is the “happiest sad” they have ever felt.
