There are a variety of hurdles that can emerge when you’re preparing to adopt. In this video our panel of adoptive parents and social workers share some of these hurdles and how to overcome them. The best advice is to be completely open with every issue, to divulge it early on and, to be completely honest and open. Doing this will prevent any delays and any problems further down the road in the international adoption process. Participating in the fingerprinting process can be time-consuming, as fingerprints are required by a variety of agencies, groups, and multiple governments. Another potential hurdle can include multiple trips required by certain countries. This can be a difficult hurdle while trying to balance everyday life. The advice of this group is to prepare yourselves and try to avoid discouragement.
