On the campaign trail, Hilary Clinton met with The Way Foundation in California to share her support of foster children and those who are reaching out to help them. This is not her first acknowledgement of her love for children in the system. Clinton teamed up with Republican Tom Delay and Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas when she was in the White House as the First Lady. Together they pot together events to raise foster care and adoption awareness as well as supporting The Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. Then, in 1999, this core group of three influential people, reaching across party lines, supported the Foster Care Independence Act—a piece of legislation aimed to help youth who age out of foster care.
