Andy and his partner found out they were selected to be dads just a week before the little boy was born. The men were there when the C-section was performed and they were among the first to hold the child. While out of the hospital for a meal, a nurse spoke with the birth mother – doing her best to talk her out of placing her child with a gay couple. She infused the birth mother with fear and concern, even though the birth mother was certain of her choice. In the end, things worked out. It was Andy’s own mother who gave him the best parenting advice: Pay attention to the baby. He’ll tell you what he needs.
