Three adopted children were removed from the home of a military couple, Major John Jackson and his wife, Carolyn, in 2010. The couple was charged with abuse and neglect. During the trial, evidence was presented that the couple broke the children’s bones, deprived them of food, and force-fed them hot sauce.
Well into the trial during November of 2014, a mistrial was declared when a prosecutor let slip the fact that one of their children had died–something that had been determined would not be allowed in court. Now, April of 2015, the couple is being retried. The trial began with opening arguments the afternoon of April 13th.
