Birth mothers sometimes find themselves in situations where those around them place judgment on their decision to place their child for adoption. Sometimes negative statements are made, ignorant questions are asked, and even expressions of unbelief are shared.
A birth mother may use these opportunities to educate those people on adoption—but it’s important to not feel like you have to justify your decision to anyone. Those who place do so out of love, unselfishness, and because it’s the right decision for them. For those who have not been in that situation, it may be hard for them to understand. It’s not required for others to understand—it is just essential for birth parents to be at peace.
