This beautiful duet by Pam Thum and David Pack, “It’s OK to Cry” is expressive of tender, aching feelings of both mothers and fathers who have lost a child. The process of grief for the loss of an unborn child is no different than grieving for other loss of life. Women who have experienced pregnancy, know that there is a bond, regardless of the size of the baby, that makes the child a real part of our lives. We don’t need to hold the baby in our arms to be holding the baby in our hearts.
And so, when pregnancy ends without the joy of a live birth, the pain is deep. The pain is real. Logically trying to figure out “why” doesn’t seem to work. Sometimes we just need to cry.
