Pennsylvanians take Foster Care Month seriously. In an effort to raise awareness of the needs of foster children, Children and Youth Services in Centre County workers are reaching out to the public. With about 80 children in foster homes in their county alone, they need more than the 60 foster parents already licensed. The aim is to keep their foster children in the same schools, the same county, rather than having to ship them further in order to provide foster care. Currently nearly 85% of Centre County Foster children are able to live within county limits.
The Change a Lifetime event held recently in Bellefonte was a success. A Foster parent Appreciation Banquet will be held on May 18th.
