Actor Hill Harper is a dad! He adopted a son, Pierce, in December 2015. He believed he always had a calling to be a father, but thought that would happen after marriage. However, a couple years ago, a friend encouraged him to pursue the possibility of adoption, and Hill acted on it. He contacted an adoption attorney who provided him will the legal aspects of adoption. The attorney told Hill to contact him when he was ready to go forward with an adoption. However, very shortly after that meeting, it was the attorney who contacted Hill. The message was that there was a woman soon to give birth that was looking to place her child. Pierce states, “I really felt like it was God telling me to do it. I’m so glad that he chose me, and Pierce’s mom and God and the Universe chose me.”
Hill had contact with Pierce’s birth mother prior to the birth, was at the hospital for the birth, and was even allowed to cut the umbilical cord. Hill states that he was scared, “but looking back now, all the fears I had were ridiculously small compared to the joy of having him in my life and having the opportunity to be a father.”
