Birth parents who have not yet placed a child often wonder how they can possibly choose the best adoptive family for their children. It’s helpful to hear the experiences of other birth mothers to understand the process of choosing. It will be different for everyone, but often birth mothers create a list of characteristics they hope the adoptive parents will possess. For some birth mothers, they find the family who best fits the criteria. For others, it’s simply a feeling. They come upon the profile or meet a family and “just know” that this is where their child belongs. There is a great sense of peace that accompanies the right decision when choosing the family.
