As a foster parent, Kristy Jeans learned that children in foster care have needs that others may not, so she created a nonprofit organization called Markie’s Wish. Named after her late son, Markie, whom she adopted after being his foster parent, the organization provides suggestions and help for first-time foster parents and also provides food, clothing and suitcases for children in foster care.
As in all states, there is a huge need for more foster parents in the state of Illinois. Jeans continues to use Markie’s Wish as a means to recruit foster parents.
The organization is currently gathering donations of gently used items as well as financial donations of all sizes. Markie’s Wish is working toward creating several drop-off locations throughout the Loves Park, IL area. All donations are tax deductible.
