Doug and Deanne Walker have 19 children, 10 of whom are adopted. These loving parents have been up and down and all around adoption and seem to me to be an endless bucket of adoption knowledge and wisdom. On top of that, the Walkers are welcoming, inviting, and friendly! This series of articles (watch for them on Tuesdays and Fridays from now on) covers everything from being an organized home executive to failed adoptions to finding the right agency. So as you read, imagine taking a comfortable spot on Deanne’s sofa as she openly shares her insight into each topic.

When Doug and Deanne Walker’s sixth child was just a baby, they knew there was a child they needed to find.  This led to another  and another–so in a short amount of time they had a 2-year-old, an infant, and three other little tiny ones through adoption–and then she found out she was pregnant.  Deanne wondered, ”Can I do this again?” In this video clip, Deanne shares her feelings of shock, nervousness, and then excitement.  She also talks about postpartum depression and the things that were vital to her emerging from this darkness and continuing to function as the mother she knew she could be.
