Jamie was born to a single mother. All she knew was her life with her mother, bouncing around from place to place, and little supervision. Jamie is quick to say that her birth mother was a good person who made some bad choices. But when Jamie was 8 years old, her mother died. It was at the funeral that Jamie was given the choice: Go stay with your grandmother, or live with your uncle and aunt. The choice was clear for Jamie. And it was the right choice.
With two young children in the home under the age of 2, Steve and Shelley were happy to take Jamie home. Just months later, the family was thrilled when Jamie told the judge she really did want to be adopted.
