Reality TV Star Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald, began their family after a long labor in November that resulted in the birth of their first son, Spurgeon Elliott. Although the labor was long and hard, Jessa labored diligently at home and had a safe delivery. Not long after delivery, Jessa was taken to the hospital where she received a blood transfusion. During the course of all of this excitement, it is reported that Jessa stated to her husband Ben that she didn’t want to do this (birth) again. Although it was said in an intense moment and possibly in jest, her comment led to the discussion of adoption.

The TV Show Jill & Jessa: Counting On follows the lives of two of the Duggar family members who are now married and each have a child.  “Being a mom is that most amazing thing.  We are hoping to adopt,” stated Jessa in the show trailer.  “We hope to adopt a lot of kids. If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it’s not going to quench our desire to adopt.” And so, fans wonder:  Has the adoption process already started?

The Duggar family has been in the spotlight for several years.  It hasn’t all been good, but Jill and Jessa are willing to continue to be scrutinized and live their private lives in public view. Last summer the girls visited with Megyn Kelly for a half hour about the family scandal, hoping to correct misconceptions and bring back honor to the family name. The two women hope that fans can move on and allow them to continue to joyfully share their lives. This season may bring about many changes for the two branches of the Duggar family – and one of those changes could very well be adoption.
