Arrested in October of last year, adoptive parents Karen and Tim Tolin were sentenced for cruelly caging and abusing their adopted, mentally handicapped son.

As the Adoption.com team first reported, authorities were initially called to the home because of a domestic disturbance call.  When the police entered the home, they found 19-year-old Patrick Tolin in a metal cage with only a small blanket to shelter him. His parents said they believed he needed to be caged.

Parental rights were terminated, Patrick and all the other children were removed from the home, and Karen and Tim Tolin have now been sentenced to 330 days in jail. As part of their sentence they also received two years of probation.
