In the District of Columbia alone, 30 children will be legally joined with their forever families on Adoption Day.  CBS DC reports that The Superior Court is the gathering place for all 30 children and their families, where, one-by-one they will stand before the judge as the papers are signed.  All the children adopted in the previous year are invited to attend.   This mass adoption is a 28-year tradition for Washington D.C.

It is hoped that this happy event will bring awareness of the need for adoptive homes to the public.  There are currently 1,100 children in foster care in Washington D.C. with 85 of them being adoptable.  The Associated Press will be on hand to capture the joys of this day for these happy families.
