Serena is a beautiful young lady who describes herself as helpful and responsible. She is very intelligent and takes pride in her academic achievements, consistently earning high grades. She recently received the Presidential Academic Award at school. She plans to take college preparation courses, attend college, and become a forensic scientist. She also likes sports and participated in track and field, specifically sprints and relays, this past school year. She loves to draw, read, and sing. She was in the school choir. She likes fashion and hair styling. She likes animals and enjoys the foster family's pet dog and cats. She volunteers at the local fire department, doing fund raisers. She hopes to participate in trainings to allow her to become a volunteer firefighter when she's old enough. Her favorite foods include: carrots, corn, salad, peaches, and burritos. Her favorite game is checkers. Her favorite movie is the Disney nature documentary "Chimpanzee," about a young chimpanzee nicknamed Oscar who was lost in the African forest and was found and adopted by an older chimpanzee. Serena attends church services and activities with her foster family. She spends time with extended family and participates in family dinner outings. Initially she seems shy, but when she becomes comfortable, she's quite animated and fun! Over the summer she enjoyed multiple day trips with her foster family, which included Baltimore's Inner Harbor and Philadelphia. She would do best in a home with at least one African American caregiver. Serena is not legally free for adoption, however when a permanent resource is identified the county will enact final steps to terminate parental rights. For more information about Serena, please contact her recruiter, Alicia Colgate, at acolgate@pachild.org.
