Three siblings who have been in a foster home for the past five months were taken by their mother after an unscheduled visit to the foster home. The children were placed in foster care because of the condition of their mother’s home, not because of abuse.
Toy Nixon-McCray is still at large. Being “upset with the foster system,” Nixon-McCray went to the foster home on a Sunday afternoon. The children are in foster care with friends of the family. The foster mother says that the children’s mother took them because she wasn’t happy with the foster care system.
Nixon-McCray was in contact with police, letting them know that the children were safe. A short time later, she arranged to have the children returned by a family member, but she did not turn herself in.
It is unclear what charges Nixon-McCray will face when she is located.
