Ryan & Lucas

Hoping to Adopt (New York)

Letter

From our Hearts to Yours

Our hope is that learning more about us and our life together will help you in making the best decision for you and your baby.

From our Hearts to Yours
Ryan is on the left and has brown eyes. Luke is on the right and has hazel eyes.
Hello, our names are Ryan and Luke,

We want to thank you so much for considering us as possible parents to your child. We can only imagine how difficult this is for you, and we recognize how much strength, love, and courage it takes to make this decision. Our hope is that learning more about us and our life together will help you in making the best decision for you and your baby.

We are a married and financially secure couple who love each other very much and yearn to give our love to a child. We both love children and have always dreamed about becoming fathers through adoption. We are two fun-loving, active, and motivated people living life in a beautiful home in New York City. We fill our lives with art, music, sports, family, and friends. We are dog dads of two sweet and gentle pups.

We have always spoken about adoption as one of our dreams, as we both have a lot of love to share. We often sit on the couch with our dogs Peach and Daisy, thinking and dreaming about what our family would look like with a child. Ryan is a creative soul who loves music and theater. He will surely be teaching our child songs from his favorite Broadway shows. Luke is playful and energetic and will love to teach our child to play sports. We are both very family oriented, often visiting or Facetiming with our nieces, making silly faces, and sharing laughs.

It means so much to us that you have taken the time to look at our information. We want to create a home where your child can feel unconditionally loved, safe, and supported no matter what. We know this is a difficult decision for you, and we hope that by learning more about us you’ll see that we will give your child a life full of love and happiness. Should you choose us to adopt your child, we will raise your child knowing about your deep love for him or her and your tremendous sacrifice that made us parents. We will always speak about you with love in our hearts.
About Us

We can both see many family vacations in their future.

About Us
We love traveling. This is when Ryan took Luke to London for the first time.
About Luke by Ryan

Luke is going to be the most loving father. He is a great spouse, family member and friend. He is always there to listen to others and help them work through challenges in their life, and equally there to celebrate their accomplishments. Luke will be the first person cheering on a friend at the finish line of a race or setting up for a birthday party.

Even though Luke’s side of our family is spread across the country, Luke is constantly talking to them on facetime, making silly faces at our niece Sasha or checking in on his mom’s garden. Luke finds joy in even the routine days, taking the dogs for walks or cracking jokes at home. Luke has a lot of love to share and can’t wait to do this with our future child.

About Ryan by Luke

After attending college in Los Angeles, Ryan moved back to San Diego to care for his grandma, who had just had hip replacement surgery. He is so nurturing and supportive and going to be a great father. During his time caring for his grandma, he began working in the tourism industry, where he has now been for over 20 years. Now living in New York City, Ryan loves the city's vibrant energy but also cherishes the peace that comes from being near water. Broadway musicals hold a special place in Ryan's heart, and he can't wait to introduce this passion to our future child.

An avid reader, Ryan also spends time learning the languages of countries he wishes to visit. Despite the fast pace of life in New York, he finds time to care for his many plants and garden—a love instilled in him by his grandpa, grandma, and mom.

Ryan is always eager to explore new destinations, each journey broadening his horizons. Amidst all of this, he feels a profound sense of completeness when simply spending time at home with me and our dogs. The combination of these varied interests makes his life rich and full and is going to make him such a wonderful father.

How We Met

We first matched online, and quickly knew we had chemistry. Our first date was at a cozy Mexican restaurant, a nod to Ryan's favorite food. Even with Mexican food waiting, we were so caught up in conversation we did not order anything for the first hour. Both knew a second date was inevitable before the night was over.

The second date was more casual, a stroll down the Hudson River with Ryan's dog Daisy. We walked along, giving each other full belly laughs, and the connection grew. On that second date, we quickly learned that we both had hoped to adopt in the future, and started to get excited about what building a family together might look like. After hours of walking around the city, we called it a night, both knowing that we could have a bright future together.

Our dates to come centered around good food, long walks with Daisy, hikes, music, and theater. We make the most of what New York City has to offer, whether it is cuisine from around the world or Broadway shows, sports or concerts.

In time, we introduced one another to friends and family, moved in together, rescued a second dog, Peach, and married on the beach in Cape Cod. Now happily married, we both feel so ready to take the next step we always hoped for, to adopt and devote our lives to a child.

How We Spend Our Time Together

We both love being active and outdoors. On weekends, you'll often find us on the tennis courts, playing with each other or with friends. Luke learned tennis originally from his grandpa Lester (affectionally known as Papa) and played often as a kid with his parents Andrew and Gwen as well. Luke used to be a tennis instructor as a teenager and can’t wait to get on the court with a future child to pass on the tradition.

Ryan is an avid cyclist, often going on long bike rides through neighboring towns. Ryan got his bike from his grandpa Victor (or Pops, as he calls him), and often calls him to talk about the rides he finished.

We often organize trips to hike trails and mountains in the area, often with the dogs along for the journey. Hiking with dogs and loved ones is something both of us have done our whole life, and something we envision doing with a child.

As avid music and theater enthusiasts, we never miss a chance to see a Broadway show. We always take family to Broadway shows when they visit and have formed a tradition of seeing new shows with our loved ones. As we see parents at the theater with their children, we get excited to share these experiences with our child.

We also love live music, another form of entertainment available everywhere in the city. We are always looking for shows, whether they are pop music concerts at Radio City or the philharmonic orchestra’s annual Central Park performance.

Music has been a big part of both of our childhoods, and another thing that helps to form their strong bonds with their family. We each can remember car rides with their parents, singing along to the radio, and can’t wait to do the same as parents.

Traveling is another passion of ours, both near and far. We have made trips to France and Japan in the last year, and love to experience new cultures, often trying (not always successfully) to learn the language before we go. We can both see many family vacations in their future.

For vacations closer to home, beach vacations to Cape Cod are at the top of the list. Cape Cod was the place Luke would go every summer with his family, and Luke has shared his love for the Cape with Ryan over the years. We can both see many family vacations in their future.

When we're not traveling, we enjoy finding new restaurants in the city. And on those lazy days, we love nothing more than curling up on the couch to binge-watch our favorite shows and order takeout. Sometimes the low-key days are the best ones!

Our Wedding

We had our wedding in our favorite place, Provincetown, Cape Cod. Friends and family came from all over the country to support us as we took the plunge and became husbands.

In the days leading up to the wedding, we gathered with loved ones to celebrate and tell stories about the husbands-to-be and their love for us. The rehearsal dinner was filled with speeches from friends and family, telling stories about how they met one or the other, wishing us well in the future, and of course cracking jokes. The funniest of all was when all our friends collectively reenacted the scene from Bridesmaids with the two best friends of the bride fighting to prove who was the better friend - once we figured out what was happening, we were rolling on the floor laughing.

The wedding ceremony itself was a family-friendly event on the beach outside of the Provincetown Inn, with a simple but beautiful structure for us to stand beneath. Luke was escorted down the aisle by his mom Gwen and dog Daisy, and then Ryan followed with his mom Pam and dog Peach.

As we exchanged vows, shed a couple happy tears, and had our first kiss as husbands, the love between us and from our guests was evident. We took wedding pictures by the beach and then went into the reception where we danced the night away. We had some very talented dancers in their group, our two dogs even getting on the dance floor for the fun. Everyone had a blast – Luke’s mom still calls it the “wedding of the century” (don’t tell his sister Diana).
Our Family and Home

To us, family is everything. We are both so lucky to have supportive parents and families, who never wavered in their love for us as we came out to them.

Our Family and Home
This is our whole family on our wedding day. Our niece Sasha was our flower girl. It meant so much to us for our family to be there with us to celebrate this day.
Our Family

To us, family is everything. We are both so lucky to have supportive parents and families, who never wavered in their love for us as we came out to them. As we told them about our adoption plans, their love and excitement only grew. Luke’s father Andrew and stepmother Adrienne live nearby, and plan to visit for extended stays to spend time with us and our future child.

Luke’s mother Gwen and stepfather Tom live on the west coast but are always planning trips to visit for events like the US Open or just to spend time together. Luke also has an older sister Diana, who is married to her husband Josh and has a 5-year-old daughter named Sasha.

We often visit our sister Diana and brother-in-law Josh in Los Angeles to spend time with our niece Sasha making sure to arrive with presents for birthdays or holidays. Luke loves to teach our niece yoga poses and bought her first tennis racquet to keep the tennis tradition in the family going strong. Seeing the love shared in Luke’s family only makes the idea of our family that much more exciting.

Ryan’s family lives in California where he grew up. Ryan’s mom Pam and stepdad Tom are so excited to be 1st time grandparents and are planning to live on both coasts, near our home, when we have our baby, so they can be very involved grandparents. When Ryan’s mom comes to visit us in New York she loves to spend time with us and see the latest Broadway shows. Ryan’s mom Pam was also a ballerina when she was a child and enjoys taking in a ballet like the Nutcracker on her trips.

We are also very close with Ryan’s grandma Dolores and grandpa Victor who he spent a lot of time with as a child. We talk to them every week and they are excited to meet their great grand baby. Ryan’s aunt Rebecca, Uncle Joe and cousin Natalie also live in his hometown and are excited to visit us and spend summers at the beach like we did when he was a kid and now as an adult.

Ryan’s family has supported him in all aspects of his life and can’t wait to be there every step if the way to provide love and support as we become fathers together. Between our two families, there is more than enough love to be shared with a future child. Everyone is anxiously awaiting the day when we become fathers together.

Our Home

We live in a beautiful, safe neighborhood in New York City close to the best restaurants, theaters and outdoor spaces like Central Park and the Hudson River. We have playgrounds in the neighborhood, as well as parks where we bring the dogs to run and play. We are lucky enough to have a spacious home and is just a couple of streets away from great schools for all ages, and we see the kids going to school every day as we walk our dogs. We have playgrounds in the neighborhood, as well as parks where we bring the dogs to run and play.

As our child grows, we plan to buy a house in the suburbs outside of the city. Our dream is to have a house with a nice yard for the dogs to run and our future child to play. We plan to host backyard get- togethers with our family and friends, and a place that we can have our families stay to spend time with our child. Our goal is to provide the best childhood for our future son or daughter.

Our Traditions

Every year, we travel to Cape Cod to spend time with family and friends. Luke’s family has a house on the Cape, and his dad Andrew and stepmother Adrienne, and sister Diana, brother-in-law Josh and our niece Sasha meet us there for the holiday. We love to go into town and pick up a fresh catch from the fish market to cook back at home. The dogs love to run around the backyard while Luke’s dad grills the fish on the barbeque. During the days, we make the trip to the beach near the house. We all paddleboard and kayak in the water and the dogs hang by the beach chairs and dig holes in the sand for Sasha to play in. Seeing the family by the beach always fills us with joy, and we can’t wait to share the Cape with our child.

Thanksgiving is a very special holiday for us because it is centered around family gathering together. We make the trip out to Luke’s sister Diana, our brother-in-law Josh and our niece Sasha’s house in Los Angeles, where both Luke’s and Ryan’s families gather to enjoy the warm weather from their outdoor patio. Ryan loves to cook for the holidays. He always helps Diana with the incredible spread of the Thanksgiving classics, and dinner is always followed by their favorite ice cream flavors.

We cherish the time they get to spend with the family, helping Sasha with her arts and crafts and watching Thanksgiving football with the family. We are excited to one day have the family playing with our child too.

Christmas is another family tradition we get very excited about. We love to take friends and family to go ice skating underneath the big Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center. Both of us always had Christmas trees growing up and enjoyed decorating the trees with our family. We have kept the tradition alive, putting up our own tree every year. We both collect ornaments from everywhere we travel and decorate the tree with these alongside the ornaments passed down from our grandparents. Ryan is also a holiday decorator and displays his collection of nutcrackers on every windowsill.

As Christmas approaches, we often travel to San Diego to spend time with Ryan’s side of our family. Ryan helps his grandmother make the Christmas roast while Luke catches up with Ryan’s extended family. On Christmas day, we exchange gifts by the fireplace and eat some of Ryan’s mom, Pam’s famous homemade fudge. Christmas is something they can’t wait to share with our child.
