Southwest Missouri has too few foster homes and many children in the foster care system. Too many children are stuck in group homes as they wait for a foster home to open up. And so when groups like the Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association (MFCAA) step in to get foster parents licensed, it makes a big difference. As the MFCAA prepares to double their staff by the end of this summer, they expect that more and more children will be given the opportunity to live in loving foster homes.

Foster parent Mark Hay has been taking care of foster kids for three years and says that although it can be tough on some days, it is definitely worth it. He said, “You get a chance to help a child make it, to help them find themselves, and to help them along in their journey.”
