Little Shyla, age 2, was placed for adoption at birth with a same-sex couple who adore her. Unwittingly they broke the law when they took her across state lines before the adoption was finalized, and so she was taken away and is now with a family member. There are currently three prospective adoptive couples, all desperately wanting Shyla, and yet she remains without a permanent family.
Now, another problem. Because of her Native American heritage, the Cherokee Nation is stepping in to have Shyla placed in a Native American Family. To Shyla’s birth mother, none of this makes any sense. She just wants her in a loving home.
