It’s no secret that the young ladies on MTV’s Teen Mom have had their share of scandal and baby news. However, the latest Teen Mom child announcement is a different kind of story. As reported by Hollywood Life, Maci Bookout of Teen Mom OG recently announced that she and her husband, Taylor McKinney, plan to adopt.
McKinney and Bookout share two children together, Maverick and Jayde, while Bookout also has her son, Bentley, from her previous relationship with Ryan Edwards, who has also been featured on Teen Mom OG. An adoption would add a fourth child to their brood, making for a full house.
Hollywood Life reports that Bookout recently sat down with Kailyn Lowry, of Teen Mom 2, to discuss the adoption news on Lowry’s podcast “Coffee and Convos.” Bookout stated, “We definitely still want to adopt, but it’s going to be down the road because we don’t want to adopt a baby, we want to adopt a child. We want to make sure our family is in a really good position to do it because adopting a child is a really big commitment.”
This is not the first time an adoption story has been profiled on Teen Mom. Fellow Teen Mom OG cast members Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra had their adoption journey documented by MTV’s 16 and Pregnant as they placed their daughter Carly for adoption over 9 years ago. They also remain active adoption advocates. Hopefully, they can be a source of information for Bookout and McKinney soon!
Adopting older children is quite the undertaking, but also an imminent need for the number of children in the foster care system who need forever homes. Bookout and McKinney will have a long road ahead if and when they choose to adopt, but they have shown on Teen Mom that they are a team time and time again. We will be cheering them on through their journey!
