Adopting from Ethiopia, their child suffered from PTSD. Through years of night terrors, daytime screaming tantrums and more, it was Jillian and her husband’s constant stories and consistent love that has helped him grow into the family. “He is inventing himself,” Jillian said. As an adoptee as well, Jillian knows the ‘who am I?’ question is sometimes difficult to understand. We are all story-tellers, she said. We learn who we are by the stories we create about ourselves.
