Do you wonder how to share with others what it's like to be touched by adoption? We created this wiki page to help you find entertainment genres like Films, Books, Poems, TV Shows and more that can assist you in sharing your story with others. We were surprised at the variety and how we never realized that some of our favorite films and books are about adoption. Such as Superman, The Book Thief, Hercules, The Importance of Being Earnest, Tarzan, Anne of Green Gables, and The Vampire Diaries all deal with adoption.

We have a general page with all types of entertainment suggestions; along with a kid friendly sections under the synopsis and reviews. We added discussion questions and activities so these lists can give you time to spend with your child(ren) who were adopted, placed, siblings of adoptees, or with your whole family. Enjoy!

Books and Adoption

There are many books on adoption. They tell stories from all perspectives, such as: being an adoptee, being a birth parent, or what it’s like as an adoptive parent. Books can be a treasure and help those who read them to understand ideas and what it may be like in the characters position. You can find these either at your local bookstore, the library, or online. Pick one and have a nice read with a cup of cocoa and blanket or out in the sun having a picnic!

Films and Adoption

We have compiled a list of films that involve adoption. Whether it be a main character like Tarzan, or Clark Kent from Superman who we follow that's trying to understand who they are; or a documentary about adoption, following children who are international adoptees visiting their native land and meeting their birth families for the first time. Some will be a surprise and fun for a family night. Have fun exploring what's listed!
