Adoptee Samar Hersh-Toubia shared with us that adoptees may feel their births were an accident—and that may be true. However, your adoption was not an accident. Your parents wanted you and chose you—you are no accident. Samar compared the attitudes about adoption in America, England and Sudan. She called for Sudan to rise in their attitude. Samar stated that Sudan could help adopted children remove shame from their lives and to realize adoption does not make them less than others.
