A guilty verdict was returned on October 22 against Robert Felix Gonzales. According to TheDenverChannel.com, over a period of two years, Gonzales abused, prostituted, kidnapped, and exploited the 14-year-old girl he met through a foster home placement. From 2011 through 2013 Gonzales provided her with methamphetamines and alcohol while forcing her into prostitution.
The girl regularly ran away from her grandmother’s and other foster homes and would meet up with Gonzales. When Gonzales was prohibited from seeing her, he actively hid her from police and family in crawl spaces within his home.
Investigated by Arvada and Denver police as well as an FBI task force, Gonzales was picked up and charged in November of 2013, 4 months after the girl jumped out of his moving vehicle to leave him.
Gonzales’ trial lasted 7 days, with the verdict being delivered the next day. He was found guilty on 17 counts, 13 of which are felonies. Sentencing will take place on January 7, 2015.
