- Case #78387
Maranda is a soft-spoken youth who is shy around people she doesn't know. She is motivated when she's doing something she enjoys. Maranda can always be found with a book in her hand. It doesn't matter what kind of book, she will read it and loves to read. Maranda pushes herself to do more than others think she can do. She often needs directions to comply with adult requests and rules. She requires assistance with some areas of daily living, such as communication, self-care, and social situations. At times, Maranda is very much a "girly-girl" and enjoys dressing up and looking nice. She also enjoys going on outings, like football games and basketball games. Maranda enjoys school and the friends she has at school. She enjoys the outdoors and swimming.
Maranda needs a family who is loving, very nurturing, and committed to her. She will thrive in a home that has structure, routine, and clearly defined boundaries. Maranda does well with other children and will be a good match with a family that has other children in the home. However, it is recommended that the other children in the home be at least 10 years old or older. The family that adopts Maranda needs to be committed to following through with any additional services she may need in the future. This will include family and individual supportive services, as well as community services. Maranda will also need a family who will not only love her, but be her voice and advocate for her. She will need continued contact with her adult sibling.
